The Collecta Extra Large Ingentia prima is a 1:40 size model of one of the first extremely large dinosaurs. Measuring 24.5 cm in length and 7 cm in height, this figure highlights a key moment in the evolutionary history of the Triassic period.
Ingentia prima, which means "first huge one," lived in northwestern Argentina around 210 million years ago. Reaching lengths of about 10 meters and weighing up to 10 tons, it revealed that giant dinosaurs appeared 35 million years earlier than once thought.
Named and described in 2018, this dinosaur had rapid growth and an efficient bird-like respiratory system. Unlike later sauropods such as Diplodocus, Ingentia had more bent legs, making it a unique example of early adaptations to gigantism.
