Celebrate the 1990 Bathurst 1000 with the Perkins/Mezera VL Commodore, a highlight of Mount Panorama history. The No.11 Holden VL Commodore impressed after missing out in 1989, qualifying over four seconds faster than the previous year. Perkins and co-driver Tomas Mezera secured seventh on the grid with a 2:17.03 lap in the Tooheys Top Ten Shootout.
During the race, the Commodore became a serious contender as turbo cars struggled with tires and extra stops. Perkins briefly led before Mezera took over, keeping the car at the front through the final stages. By lap 134, Mezera had built a 40-second advantage, showing the car's pace and the driver's skill.
A late Safety Car mishap cost the team the lead despite a quick 50-second pit stop. After 161 laps and 6 hours, 40 minutes, the No.11 Commodore finished third. The race was ultimately won by Win Percy and Allan Grice, marking a milestone victory for the Holden Racing Team.
